Announcement / Corporate Mar 08, 2010, 20:05 IST

The Gyproc range of gypsum plasters are single coat application plasters that speed up the construction process and improve aesthetic appeal

Saint-Gobain Gyproc India Ltd, a market leader in the construction space in India, yesterday announced the launch of “Gyproc Plaster” – a one of its kind range of gypsum plasters for walls and ceilings in Chennai. The Gyproc range of plasters are formulated with special additives to enhance working & setting characteristics, thereby delivering higher performance, a speedier construction process and superior aesthetic appeal.

The Gyproc range of plasters are made of gypsum, a unique light weight material which offersexcellent insulation both thermal and acoustic and good passive fire protection. Gyproc plaster products are also approved by CII- IGBC for consideration towards Green Building rating systems points providing a supplementary advantage to builders keen on creating eco-friendly infrastructure which reduces the carbon footprint of buildings.

Commenting on the launch, Mr. Venkat Subramanian, Managing Director, Saint-GobainGyproc India Ltd., said, “Gypsum plasters are very widely accepted globally. Initially the company launched this product in West India where Gyproc plasters have become the norm for internal plastering across both commercial and residential applications. Most of the leading builders of Mumbai and Pune like Lodha, Raheja, Magarpatta, Rustomjee, Rohan, Oberoi, HCC - Lavasa etc. are among our esteemed customers. Based on this success, there is a growing awareness and demand for gypsum plasters across the rest of India and having identified this potential, we will focus on this category to add to our growth. We are confident that this alternative will revolutionalize internal plastering practices in India. Our key markets of focus for geographical expansion initially would be Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

“Through our global network we are in a better position to bring in tested products and we are simultaneously exploring opportunities to introduce more international products to the Indian market based on the needs of the construction industry” added Mr. Venkat.

Gypsum plastering is growing as an advanced substitute to the conventional sand cement plastering and POP punning. This results in reducing plastering time by 70 percent, improving durability, providing a smooth line and level surface along with shrinkage crack free walls & ceilings. Gyproc gypsum plasters are suitable for application on most internal backgrounds including brick, block and concrete. They consist essentially of gypsum hemihydrates formulated with special additives to control working and setting characteristics. These products also contain a lightweight exfoliated aggregate to improve plaster’s workability, coverage and application and dry faster to provide a smooth matt finish
