More synergy between India, Taiwan needed: Taiwan Minister

Taiwan Economic Affairs Vice Minister Jung-Chiou Hwang today called for more synergy between software industry pioneer India and his country to help both nations create a 'win-win' situation and boost trade and investment.
"You are a pioneer in the software industry and Taiwan is prosperous in hardware... India and Taiwan should expand their focus and form closer ties to leverage their strengths," Taiwan Ministry of Economic Affairs Vice-Minister Jung-Chiou Hwang said at the inauguration of two day conference 'CONNECT 2010,' organised by Confederation of Indian Industry.
He said the Taiwanese software industry contributed one third of the total production of $300 billion in his country, while mid town China contributed two third. "Last year 37 products from Taiwan were top ranked," he claimed.
He said Taiwan requires more software engineers and India on hardware. "It will be a very important combination in the IT industry if India and Taiwan join together...It will also help to create a win-win situation," he said.
This would not only boost trade and investment in the IT sector but also see more of 'knowledge cooperation', he said.
On the two-day conference CONNECT 2010, he said, this was the first time Taiwan is taking part as a partner in the conference.
