Markets open in green

Markets have opened in the green with the Sensex up 53 points at 17,678. Nifty is up 11 points at 5,345.

Market heavyweight, Bharti Airtel have come out with a lacklustre set of numbers. Bharti Airtel consolidated revenues are at Rs 1,011 cr. Consolidated EBITDA margins are at 32.2%. The stock has slumped 3% at Rs 368.

US stocks rose slightly on Tuesday with the Dow Jones industrial average settling up 33.07 points, or 0.26 per cent, at 12,878.20. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 0.20 per cent to end at 1,347.05.

Asian shares remained in green on Wednesday with MSCI's broadest index of Asia Pacific shares outside Japan mostly flat, while Japan's Nikkei rose 0.6 per cent.

BSE IT index has gained 1.3% to 5,976. Consumer durables, FMCG and Oil & gas indices have advanced 1% each. Meanwhile, BSE bankex has shed 1% to 11,733.

TCS has jumped 2% to Rs 1,223. Infosys is up 1.5% while Wipro has advanced 0.8% in morning trades. Among other big gainers are DLF, Hero MotoCorp, Hindustan Unilever and Gail.

ICICI Bank has slipped 2.5% to Rs 914 on reports that Singapore-based Temasek Holdings plans to sell 1.38% stake in the bank to raise up to $303 million.

The government has rejected Reliance Industries' demand for a revision in the KG-D6 gas price. The stock is up 1.3% at Rs 856.

Tata Motors and Tata Power have dropped 1% each, followed by ONGC, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Steel.
