ISB to help faculty and scholars publish case studies abroad
BS Reporter / New Delhi Nov 16, 2009, 00:16 IST

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has set up a Centre for Case Development by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Western Ontario’s Richard Ivey School of Business to enhance case writing capabilities among Indian academia and distribute these cases worldwide.

The centre will support and mentor faculty and research scholars from business schools in India through a comprehensive process of case development - from generating ideas to publishing case studies globally.

“Indian companies have, in this past decade, developed new business models that have the potential to be replicated in other parts of the world but there is a significant shortage of case studies to understand these best practices,” said ISB dean Ajit Rangnekar.

The centre is currently developing 40 case studies on corporates, planning bodies, NGOs, SMEs and sports organisations among others and plans to build a pool of about 350 case writing faculty and research scholars in India by the next academic year. “We expect of spending around Rs 1 crore on the salaries and travel of teachers. There will be joint case studies some with the Ivey schools and some with others,” said Savita Mahajan, Chief Executive, Mohali Campus, ISB.

In addition to Ivey, the centre is also working with international b-schools like Darden, University of Virginia , to publish collaborative cases.
