The Confederation of Indian Industry is organising ‘Steel Mart 2010’, a conference cum exposition, to highlight and discuss the future trends of the steel industry in North India on September 10-11, 2010, at CII Northern Region Headquarters, Chandigarh.

Inspired by the huge response of Steel Mart 2006 and challenges faced by steel industry in the north, Confederation of Indian Industry has planned Steel Mart 2010. Themed as ‘Steel: catalysing India’s Growth Trajectory- Focus North’, the conference will bring in together key stakeholders in the North Indian Steel industry to collectively deliberate on the possible roadmap for the industry.

The current and future trends of the steel industry, and ways to narrow the demand and supply gap would be discussed. Experiences on different facets of recent advancements in the sector would be shared informed J Mehra, chairman, Steelmart and director, Esssar Group.

‘Challenges for the steel industry are many’, with unavailability of power & coal, project clearance, untimely delivery of raw material etc besides contemporary challenges of Naxalism which has affected the steel industry, the conference is rightfully timed, highlighted Mehra.
