A 'guardian' chip for your health and gizmos
BS Reporter / Mumbai Jan 24, 2012, 00:05 IST

If you are one of those who frets about the health hazards caused by mobile phone radiation, then help — in the form of a chip — is at hand. Syenergy Environics has developed a product called Enviro chip that claims to guard you and your devices against harmful electronic radiation. The company, which has been working on environmental radiations and their impact on health, launched the product after research and tests that lasted over a month on over 300 people.

The chip can be used in basic mobile phones, Wi-Fi devices, computers and laptops. The user can affix it to a device. The company is also conducting research to develop a similar product for the smartphone category.

Ajay Poddar, managing director, Syenergy Environics said, "This development came out of concern from our customers, who felt a product to deal with electronic radiation was of utmost necessity." Though the company has not tied up with mobile manufacturers, with the latter being in denial over the radiation issue, the product is getting bandied in retail stores. Spice Hotspot stores in New Delhi are selling it. Priced between Rs 275 and Rs 850, it is supposed to be fixed on a specific area on the external surface of a device.

The Enviro chip operates at frequencies between 500 and 600 THz that are much higher and generate random waves. These become carrier waves over the constant microwaves emitted from mobile phones, computers and other Wi-Fi devices, making it compatible with the body's random waveforms. Enviro chip acts as a radiation protector for these electronic devices and you. While Enviro chip has not exactly found an enthusiastic market among the Indian youth, Poddar lists lack of awareness about health hazards as the reason.

"We are focussing on institutional sales, presently. Taj Hotels, Elder Pharmaceuticals and Bharti Axa have purchased it for employees," he added.
