'Animation aspirants should focus on 2D equally'

Admitting that there is a lot of scope in 3D animation, industry experts at 'Perspectives' seminar held on Tuesday also added that aspirants should focus on 2D animation as well. A joint effort of Arena Animation, animation and multimedia training firm, and Rayudu Vision Media Limited (RVML), makers of the 2D animation feature, 'Lava Kusa - The Warrior Twins', 'Perspectives' was held to promote the animation industry.

Talking about the seminar, Vishal Vohra, regional sales head, Ahmedabad and Vadodara, Aptech Ltd. said that the seminar highlighted the need for aspirants to focus on 2D animation apart from following the 3D trend as well. The seminar also included a job fair by RVML wherein around 20 students from Arena Animation were shortlisted.

Speaking at the event, Shravan Cheryala, technical director, RVML said, "India's animation studios are catering to the requirements of various end user segments such as feature films, TV programs, advertisements/commercials and computer games. Animation solutions are also finding a place in niches such as film titling, special effects, Web entertainment programs; TV broadcast graphics, 3D modeling and background development. Perspectives are offering a great opportunity to the young aspirants who would like to make a mark in the animation industry."

Anuj Kacker, COO Aptech Ltd. & Global Head, Arena Animation said, "Animation is growing into a multi-billion dollar industry, generating a great scope of employment for those who are ready to try their skills into it. Perspectives seminars are playing a significant role in educating students on animation as an attractive career option and the various opportunities available to the well trained individuals in this promising and high growth industry."

Meanwhile, following Ahmedabad, Perspectives seminar will also be held in other cities such as Vadodara, Meerut, Chandigarh, Amritsar, Agra, Solapur, Varanasi and Lucknow, Vohra added.
